Welcome to the Cognitive Neuroscience of Cartography Research Group

The NeuroCarto Research Group is part of the historic UW Cartography Lab. Led by Dr. Bill Limpisathian, this research group aims to investigate the neuropsychological correlates of map reading, geospatial cognition, spatial thinking, navigation and environmental perception. At the core of this research group is the aim of using a broadened toolset and perspectives spanning cartography, geography, neuropsychology and related information sciences to address fundamental questions surrounding our interaction with spaces as well as the cartographic and geospatial tools we use to aid spatial navigation and mobility.

We’re moooooooving!

NeuroCarto, UWCL and the Department of Geography are moving out of historic Science Hall at the end of May 2026. Science Hall is getting a $163 million renovation. While Science Hall is getting its well-deserved makeover, NeuroCarto, UWCL and most of Geography will be calling Computer Sciences building home away from home.
